The search for the ideal weight, which is often an unrealistic goal, can end up leading us to a state of frustration that causes us to suffer from low self-esteem, and this can affect our mood or even lead to eating disorders.
With the aim of helping people lose weight in a moderate and healthy way , Longevitas Labs launches its Weight and Health Challenge campaign on social media.
Are you in?
Once again, that time of year has arrived when many people hope for miracle diets and to achieve unattainable goals. Longevitas Labs, the first 100% Spanish laboratory specializing in anti-aging through its premium nutritional supplements, proposes a realistic protocol that allows you to lose weight in 30 days. The concept of ideal weight, desirable weight, or optimal weight has often served more to encourage poor nutritional habits than to improve our health and well-being. The influence that the physical appearance of actors, models, or elite athletes has on many of us, in conjunction with the aesthetic trends of each era, can lead us to make it our goal to reach a weight that does not correspond to our individual needs. We must be aware that weight gain carries certain risks. A large waist circumference has often been associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (metabolic syndrome). Furthermore, various studies show that rapid weight loss of a certain percentage is difficult to maintain over time, not to mention potential health risks depending on the sacrifices we make to our bodies to achieve that rapid weight loss. Losing 5% of our weight and maintaining it over time can have substantial benefits. What is a "healthy weight"? Each of us has a unique body structure, so simply using weight as a reference point, especially if, as we mentioned, we compare ourselves to others who may have a very different structure, can lead us to make a fundamental mistake. We should pay much more attention to the concept of "healthy weight," or in other words, the weight that keeps us within an average range that helps us maintain our health and energy levels, and that we can easily maintain without constantly making dietary sacrifices or engaging in endless exercise sessions (or both). There are different charts we can use as a reference to see how close or far we are from our "healthy weight," but we must always be aware that each of us is different, and that although these charts may include average weight and height for each gender and even for a specific age group, they are simply reference values that don't take into account important factors such as individual history. Nutrition, Exercise, and Supplementation: At Longevitas Labs, we propose a combination that integrates a healthy and varied diet, regular exercise, and the use of certain supplements to help you achieve your desired nutrient intake. Sometimes, whether due to the foods we eat, lack of time, stress, work demands, or other factors, we can't always eat as we'd like. To help you reach your goal in a healthy and gradual way, without compromising your nutrient intake, we've developed a combination of healthy supplements that, working synergistically, promote fat loss without affecting lean mass (muscle, bones, and skin), and whose main nutritional contribution is protein. It's called the Weight Health Set and will help boost weight loss thanks to the combination of these components. Vital Formula: A high-nutritional-value food intended for anyone experiencing nutritional deficiencies or following a specific diet. It helps you lose weight effectively and eliminate accumulated fat. Thanks to a combination of plant proteins—from organic pea and rice—digestive enzymes—bromelain and papain—probiotics and prebiotics, goji berries (Lycium barbarum), maca extract (Lepidium meyenii), vitamins, and minerals. It can be used as a meal replacement during weight loss. Berberine helps control blood sugar levels, regulate blood pressure, and reduce triglyceride levels. It also promotes liver detoxification and proper function by increasing protein synthesis in the liver, which helps replace damaged proteins. The Relax Formula is a combination of amino acids that helps improve relaxation and concentration, contributes to better sleep quality, and reduces the stress and anxiety that weight loss plans can cause.
Speaking with our specialist Enrique González, PRECISION FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION THERAPIST WITH TRAINING IN BIOCHEMISTRY, DIETETICS-NUTRITION AND NATUROPATHY
- Unless there are very specific goals or circumstances, breakfast is a meal and should not lack any macronutrients. - You can't leave home with just coffee and sugar or something sweet. These are stimulants and empty calories, providing an artificial energy boost without any nutritional value. - This will cause blood glucose to rise very quickly, and if insulin isn't able to neutralize a higher amount that won't be used, it will indirectly be stored as fat. - That's why it's important to eat a breakfast that includes foods with a higher nutritional value, replacing simple carbohydrates (sugars) with proteins (ham, turkey, eggs, salmon, etc.), complex carbohydrates (with fiber), and don't be afraid of healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, guacamole, nuts, etc.). The energy provided by these more nutrient-dense foods helps stabilize insulin levels, preventing hunger between meals. The body is able to use this energy steadily, gradually increasing our basal metabolic rate (BMR), the energy the body needs to function properly. This is primarily because we gain lean mass (not volume) and lose fat (volume). It's important that the balance of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) in each meal aligns with individual goals. It's not just the number of calories that matters, but also the proportions of these sources based on those goals. Physical activity or exercise expends energy, so in a weight-loss plan, we need to compensate for calorie intake with increased activity/exercise to burn more calories. Often, it's simply a matter of rearranging the foods we already eat based on their nutrient content, without having to reduce our usual intake, but rather increasing our energy expenditure. One of the problems we face as we age is the loss of lean muscle mass, especially if we've led a sedentary life with a poor diet. Strength training adapted to each individual, combined with sufficient protein and complex carbohydrates, will slow down sarcopenia (muscle loss) and prevent other health problems or difficulties in recovering from illness. Rest and stress reduction are also important, because elevated cortisol levels, produced by prolonged periods of high stress, will impair the function of other hormones involved in fat metabolism. Supplementation, along with a balanced and healthy diet, is an added benefit that promotes weight loss, providing extra nutrients such as specific antioxidants that facilitate fat reduction, magnesium to control stress levels, chromium to regulate insulin levels (along with plants like berberine), and essential fatty acids that, among their many benefits, contribute to better lipid balance.
